AMRITSAR, Oct 4— Three persons, including a woman, were killed late Friday night when their motorcycle was crushed by a truck trailer that suddenly rolled backward on Ram Tirath Road near the Ajnala bypass flyover, police said.
The deceased were identified as Sunny, 27, a resident of Nehru Colony; Raman, 22, of Pal Avenue; and his mother Geeta, 43. The incident occurred around 11 p.m. when the trailer’s driver, heading from Mahal village towards the bypass, reportedly lost control of the vehicle while trying to climb the flyover, causing it to move in reverse.
“The victims were riding just behind the trailer and couldn’t stop in time as it rolled back. The motorcycle came under the vehicle, and all three died on the spot,” a police official said.
The driver has been taken into custody, and a case has been registered against him. Police said the bodies were sent for post-mortem examination, and further investigation is underway.
