In the first incident, Ajay Kumar, a food stall vendor originally from Uttar Pradesh and currently residing in Kharar, died after his scooter collided with a speeding truck near the Cheema Boilers light point. According to his brother, who was riding another two-wheeler behind him, the truck overtook Ajay’s scooter at high speed, causing him to lose control and crash.

“My brother fell and suffered severe head injuries. The truck driver initially stopped but fled the spot after a crowd gathered,” the brother told police. Ajay was rushed to the Phase 6 civil hospital and later referred to GMCH, Sector 32, Chandigarh, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The Balongi police have registered a case under Sections 281, 106, and 324(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the absconding truck driver.

In another fatal accident, a 71-year-old man died after a speeding motorcycle rammed into his two-wheeler near Lehli Chowk around 7 pm on Saturday. According to the victim’s son, who was riding alongside him, a motorcycle (PB65-AZ-2247) coming from Lalru side struck his father’s vehicle, causing him to fall and suffer critical injuries.

The elderly man was rushed to a private hospital and later referred to GMCH-32, but could not survive. Lalru police have booked the unknown biker under Sections 281 and 106 of the BNS.

In a third tragedy, Dinesh, 45, a daily wage labourer from Jagatpura, was crushed to death by a reversing tractor-trolley near Amandeep Eye Hospital in Kharar’s Garden Colony. The accident occurred around 2 pm on Saturday while Dinesh was on his way to work.

His wife told police that the driver of the tractor-trolley (PB27-E-0065) failed to notice Dinesh behind the vehicle while reversing. He was taken to the Kharar civil hospital and later referred to Phase 6, where he was declared dead.
