CHANDIGARH, May 26—Chandigarh Police arrested a habitual offender near Guga Mari Mandir in the Ram Darbar area and seized heroin and unlicensed injectable drugs from his possession. Two more arrests were made in Maloya the same day under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
In the first case, a team from Sector 31 police station, led by Sub-Inspector Suneel Kumar, spotted Vinod Kumar (31) behaving suspiciously during a patrol in the 3 BRD Airport Area. As he attempted to walk away, police intercepted him and searched a small black backpack he was carrying.
Inside, they recovered:
- Eight vials of Buprenorphine Hydrochloride (1 ml each)
- Eight vials of Pheniramine Maleate (2 ml each) with erased batch details
- A waxy pouch containing 2.35 grams of heroin
Vinod was unable to produce any documentation or licence for the possession of the substances. He has been sent to judicial custody, and an FIR has been filed under Sections 21 and 22 of the NDPS Act at Police Station-31.
In separate incidents on Friday, police arrested Rahul Singh (27) and Monu (21) — both residents of EWS Colony, Maloya — during routine checks.
Rahul was held near RC-1 School, Maloya, and found in possession of 500 grams of ganja. A case under Section 20 of the NDPS Act has been registered.
Monu was apprehended near Shiv Mandir, Maloya, around 9:30 pm. He was found carrying 500 grams of ganja, 20 grams of heroin (chitta), and a knife. Legal action has been initiated.
