Agra, May 14: A 45-year-old tourist from Maharashtra died on Wednesday after collapsing inside the Taj Mahal complex, according to officials. The man, identified as Shivling Babayya Swami from Latur district, was visiting the iconic monument with his family when he suddenly fell unconscious.
The incident occurred around 1:25 p.m. near the Royal Gate. “Shivling Babayya Swami collapsed near the Royal Gate. The Quick Reaction Team of the CISF responded quickly and transported him to a hospital in an ambulance,” said Prince Vajpayee, Assistant Conservationist of the Taj Mahal. “Sadly, the doctors declared him brought dead.”
Police officials said they reached the location promptly after receiving the report. “The body has been placed in the mortuary,” said Syed Arib Ahmad, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Taj Security.
Authorities confirmed that the exact cause of death will be determined after a post-mortem examination.
