Trust evaluates housing proposal for Rajguru Nagar plot

Decision on primary school site pending community feedback

by TheReportingTimes

Ludhiana, Jan 22: Ludhiana Improvement Trust officials are evaluating the future of a 1.05-acre plot in Rajguru Nagar currently reserved for a primary school. The Trust has initiated a formal process to determine if the site should instead be developed into a residential housing project to meet local demands.

The administrative move includes a 30-day public objection period, allowing stakeholders to participate in the planning process. Officials noted that the high value of the land and local residential requirements are factors being considered in the potential transition.

The Public Action Committee has raised points regarding the preservation of the original site plan. Representatives of the committee mentioned that the land was originally intended to support the educational infrastructure of the posh locality.

Kuldeep Khaira and Kapil Arora, speaking for the PAC, said that the integrity of the project’s original bylaws is essential. They mentioned their intent to ensure the site serves its primary intended purpose. “We can approach the court,” they said while discussing their commitment to the original site designation.

Chairman Tarsem Singh Bhinder said that the Trust is following a path of careful deliberation. He mentioned that the proposal for the Change of Land Use was initiated after the government gave the green light to seek public opinion.

“Objections have been invited through public notice for changing the CLU only after the government’s approval,” Bhinder said. He noted that the Trust is balancing the various needs of the community. He said that the final status of the land will be determined only after a thorough review of the feedback received during the notice period.
