Mohali | June 15 – In a significant breakthrough, the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC), Mohali, has arrested two close associates of Canada-based terrorist Arsh Dala, effectively thwarting a planned target killing operation in Punjab.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Kawaljit Singh of Dharamkot and Navdeep Singh alias Honey from Badduwal. A Zigana .30 bore pistol along with nine live cartridges was recovered from their possession at the time of arrest.
Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav shared the development on social media platform X, stating that initial investigations indicate the accused were acting on Arsh Dala’s instructions to eliminate members of rival gangs and extort money through targeted violence.
“The arrest has foiled a major conspiracy. Punjab Police remains committed to dismantling organized crime and ensuring peace in the state,” Yadav said.
According to police officials, the SSOC acted swiftly and apprehended the duo before they could execute their plan. A case under relevant sections has been registered at the SSOC police station in Mohali.
Investigators are now probing the module’s forward and backward links to trace the broader network associated with Arsh Dala. Officials believe the arrests could lead to further breakthroughs in identifying operatives tied to the cross-border terror-crime syndicate.
Police sources confirmed that surveillance and intelligence inputs had been instrumental in the timely arrest, which comes amid heightened efforts to crack down on terror-linked criminal activities across Punjab.
