Two Babbar Khalsa operatives held in Ferozepur

FEROZEPUR, Aug 14: — Punjab Police on Thursday arrested two suspected operatives of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) in Ferozepur, foiling what officials described as a Pakistan-backed conspiracy to create unrest in the state.

The counter-intelligence operation led to the seizure of two hand-grenades, a Beretta 9mm pistol, and ammunition, Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said. The arrests come just two days after police dismantled another terrorist module and recovered grenades.

“Investigations have revealed that Harvinder Rinda, operating from Pakistan under the guidance of its intelligence agency, the ISI, and with support from associates based in the UK, US, and Europe, has been making continuous attempts to mislead Punjab’s youngsters into anti-national activities,” Yadav said.

Officials said the suspects were part of a module tasked with carrying out attacks in Punjab. The case is under further investigation, with police working to identify and apprehend additional members of the network.
