Nuh, Aug. 12 — Two children died and three family members were seriously injured when their house collapsed in Reethad village late Sunday night, police said.
The victims — Naira, 7, and Umar, 12 — were sleeping with their parents and younger brother inside the house when the structure gave way around 1 a.m., burying them under the rubble. Villagers rushed to the scene, pulling all five from the debris before police arrived.
Naira and Umar died on the spot, while their father Salim, mother, and five-year-old brother were injured. The child was later referred to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi, while the parents are receiving treatment at Nalhar Medical College.
Salim’s father, Haji Iqbal, said heavy rainfall over the past two days had weakened the house. “An empty field behind the house was filled with rainwater,” he added.
“The injured are out of danger. The bodies have been buried, and a probe is underway,” said Inspector Subhash Chand, SHO of Pinangwa police station.
