Two Held for Running Clinics on Fake Papers in Panchkula

by TheReportingTimes

Panchkula, July 8 — Two men from Panipat have been arrested for allegedly running Ayurvedic clinics using forged medical documents, in a racket first flagged by the Council of Indian Medicine in 2022.

The accused, identified as Dr. Krishna Kumar and Dr. Virendra Kumar, were taken into custody on July 5 for operating without valid credentials. According to police, the two procured fake experience certificates from an unrecognized Ayurvedic and Unani institute in Patna, Bihar, and used them to establish clinics in Samalkha, Panipat.

An FIR in the case was filed under Sections 420 (cheating), 467 (forgery), 471 (using forged documents), and 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code, along with violations of the Ayurvedic and Unani Practitioners Act.

Investigators said the duo managed to migrate and renew their fraudulent certifications in Haryana with the assistance of Chandra Bhushan Chaudhary, a resident of Ambala. Discrepancies between their documents and official records raised red flags, prompting further scrutiny by the Council.

“The certificates they used do not correspond to any recognized records maintained by the Council of Indian Medicine, Haryana,” a police officer involved in the case said.

Following their arrest, the accused were remanded to one-day police custody on July 6. Interrogation led to the recovery of photocopies of forged degrees, and officials believe more individuals may be linked to the racket.

“The investigation is ongoing, and we expect more names to emerge,” the officer added.
