Two More Arrested in Moga Conspiracy Case

by TheReportingTimes

Moga, April 24 — The Moga police have arrested two more individuals in connection with an alleged conspiracy to target political leaders.

The accused have been identified as Harwinder Singh from Rajeana and Sukhchain Singh from Malliana village in Moga district.

The arrests come after a case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and other relevant sections was filed on April 21.

Since then, the police have apprehended five individuals, including a 17-year-old, for their suspected involvement in terror-related activities.

The two arrested men were taken into custody on Tuesday night and were presented before a Moga district court on Wednesday. They were subsequently sent to two-day police remand.

According to the police, the conspiracy was uncovered through a WhatsApp chat group that contained at least 30 members of Waris Punjab De.

The group allegedly discussed plans to target high-profile political figures, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Minister Ravneet Bittu.

The plot was allegedly in response to the extension of Khadoor Sahib MP’s detention under the National Security Act (NSA) for an additional year.

The conspiracy came to light after leaked chats from the group surfaced on social media platforms on Sunday.

Investigators are currently analyzing digital data to identify additional suspects who may have been part of the chat group, which reportedly contained objectionable content.
