Chandigarh, November 18 — The Haryana government has promoted IPS officers Alok Mittal and Arshinder Singh Chawla to the rank of director general of police, giving the 1993-batch officers charge at the highest level of the state police service.
The promotion order, issued on Tuesday, places Mittal—who currently leads the Anti-Corruption Bureau—and Chawla—director of the Haryana Police Academy in Madhuban—in the DGP grade. Both officers have held multiple key assignments over the years.
Officials noted that the elevation aligns with the government’s seniority-based progression in the IPS cadre. New postings are expected to be notified separately, according to officials familiar with the development.
