Udhampur, Feb 4: Two terrorists were neutralized by joint security forces during a high-stakes encounter in the Basantgarh area of Udhampur district. The operation, which began on Tuesday, concluded on Wednesday after a coordinated effort by the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the CRPF.
The gunfight broke out in the Jophar Forest area following specific intelligence regarding the presence of a terror group. Security personnel from the White Knight Corps and CIF Delta launched a search operation, eventually cornering the suspects inside a cave. Additional reinforcements were deployed to ensure the perimeter remained secure throughout the night.
“Two terrorists have been neutralised in the encounter, and the search operation is still underway,” an official mentioned regarding the progress of the site clearance.
The White Knight Corps noted that the operation relied on a “calibrated and coordinated response” to prevent the individuals from escaping the cordon. Officials directly said the engagement demonstrated seamless inter-agency coordination and tactical precision. While the active gunbattle has ended, the Army stated that the area remains under close surveillance to ensure total safety.
