University Student Dies by Suicide in Hostel Room

by TheReportingTimes

Mohali, May 4: A 22-year-old student of Amity University in Sector 82, Mohali, was found dead in his hostel room early Saturday in what police confirmed to be a case of suicide.

The deceased, a native of Solan, Himachal Pradesh, was enrolled in a forensic science program. According to officials, he had appeared normal the night before and had dinner with friends before retiring to his room.

Around 4:30 a.m., the student reportedly sent a text message to his father that read, “I am sorry, Papa.” His parents, alarmed by the message, quickly alerted the university administration.

Campus staff rushed to the student’s room and found him unresponsive. Authorities were notified immediately, and the student was taken to the civil hospital in Phase 6, Mohali. Doctors there declared him dead on arrival.

“He showed no signs of distress or unusual behavior. We’re all shocked,” said one of the student’s close friends, who had dinner with him hours before the incident.

Police said no foul play is suspected at this stage. A post-mortem was conducted at the civil hospital, and the body was handed over to the family upon their arrival from Solan.

Investigators are reviewing the student’s phone and personal belongings as part of their inquiry. The university has yet to issue an official statement.
