CHANDIGARH, June 1— A dispute between handloom vendors and local vegetable sellers turned violent late Wednesday night in Sector-46 market, leaving two brothers injured and hospitalised after a brutal assault.
According to the FIR lodged on Friday, Vikas Singh, 32, a resident of Sector 45-D, stated that he and his brother Aakash, 26, were operating their handloom stall when a quarrel erupted with vendors Sanjay and Saurav.
The altercation reportedly began when Sanjay allegedly reversed his e-rickshaw over their displayed merchandise. When Aakash objected, a verbal exchange ensued but was initially defused.
However, at around 10:15 to 10:30 p.m., while the brothers were packing up for the night, the accused reportedly returned with two to three unidentified individuals armed with sticks and iron rods.
“They came back suddenly, and before we could react, Aakash was hit on the head with an iron rod,” Vikas said in his complaint. “He collapsed instantly, bleeding heavily. When I tried to stop them, they attacked me too.”
Both brothers were rushed to a nearby hospital, where Aakash remains under observation for head trauma.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the named accused and their unidentified accomplices.
Police said an investigation is underway, and efforts are on to identify and apprehend the remaining suspects involved in the attack.
