Nainital, 25 June — Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar fainted briefly on Wednesday during the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Kumaon University, prompting swift intervention by his medical team.
The incident occurred moments after Dhankhar had stepped down from the dais, following a speech at the university event. As he moved toward his former parliamentary colleague, Mahendra Singh Pal, seated in the audience, he appeared to lose consciousness.
Pal, now a High Court advocate in Uttarakhand, served in the Lok Sabha alongside Dhankhar in 1989. Dhankhar represented Jhunjhunu in Rajasthan during that term.
Witnesses described a sudden pause in movement as Dhankhar approached Pal. The Vice President’s medical team, accompanying him on his official visit, quickly responded and managed to revive him on-site.
“He regained consciousness within minutes and appeared stable,” said an official on the scene.
Dhankhar, who is on a three-day visit to Nainital, resumed his schedule shortly after the episode and proceeded to the Raj Bhawan, where he is expected to stay overnight.
