Warring Flags 2015 Sacrilege Issue in Parliament Amid Technical Interruption

Congress MP cites former Home Minister’s role in delayed justice before microphone is silenced

NEW DELHI/CHANDIGARH, APRIL 2: Ludhiana MP Amarinder Singh Raja Warring criticized the prolonged delay in the 2015 sacrilege investigation during a Lok Sabha session today, an address that was cut short when his audio was disabled.

The MP was in the process of mentioning Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal in relation to the police firing incidents that occurred eleven years ago.

The PCC President maintained that the desecration of the Guru Granth Sahib remains a sensitive and unresolved matter for the Sikh community.

He asserted that although the former Deputy Chief Minister was in charge of the Home Department at the time of the tragedy, no significant legal resolution has been reached.

“Eleven years have passed and the sacrilege issue is not settled,” Warring stated. He noted that the families of those killed during the 2015 protests are still awaiting closure, as the legal system has yet to penalize the primary culprits.

Following the session, Warring told reporters that he felt saddened by the decision to switch off his microphone.

He affirmed that the information he shared is already in the public domain and part of the official record regarding Punjab’s administrative history.

The MP declared that the avoidance of the topic by various governments has only added to the frustration of the public.

He affirmed his commitment to raising the issue in future sessions, stating that the silencing of a representative in the House does not erase the facts of the case.
