Zirakpur, 19 August — Police have registered a case against a woman for allegedly assaulting her estranged husband during a confrontation at his hotel on Patiala Road late Sunday night.
The complainant, Rahul Verma of Muktsar Sahib, told police that he operates Hotel Pearl Wood in Zirakpur on lease. Verma said that due to marital discord, he and his wife, Rajneet Kaur of Ludhiana, had been living separately after a settlement reached through a local panchayat.
Despite the agreement, Verma alleged, Kaur arrived at his hotel on Sunday night and entered into a scuffle with him. During the altercation, she allegedly damaged the hotel’s account books. He said he called the Police Control Room for assistance and was later admitted to the Dhakoli civil hospital with injuries.
Police have booked Kaur under Sections 115(2), 126(2), 351(2) and 324(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). “A probe has been initiated, and further action will follow based on investigation,” officials said.
