Woman Dies, Nine Injured in Hanumangarh Collision

by TheReportingTimes

A 55-year-old woman from Abohar was killed and nine others were injured on Sunday morning when two cars collided head-on near Pallu town in Hanumangarh district of Rajasthan. Police said the accident took place around 9 a.m. on the Mega Highway in the jurisdiction of Pallu police station.

The deceased was identified as Sushma Rani Arora, wife of Surinder Pal. She was travelling with her family from Abohar to the Salasar Balaji temple. Her son Vishal, daughter-in-law Pallavi, their child Divyansh, and Vishal’s mother-in-law Neeta were among those injured.

The second car involved in the collision was carrying five people from Rasuwala village in Sangria and Nurpur village in Sadulshehar, who were returning after visiting the same temple. Three of them—Dharam Pal, Ravi, and Naresh—have been identified, while efforts are on to confirm the identities of the remaining two.

According to police, the impact of the high-speed collision left both vehicles severely damaged. The injured were rushed to the government hospital in Pallu, where doctors declared Sushma Rani dead on arrival. The others received primary treatment before being referred to a higher medical centre in Rawatsar. However, families of the injured shifted them to hospitals in Hanumangarh and Bikaner for further care.

“Some of the injured are in critical condition, and treatment is ongoing,” police officials said. Preliminary investigations suggest that overspeeding and negligence may have caused the accident. Both vehicles have been seized, and a case has been registered.

The body of the deceased was handed over to her relatives after post-mortem. Meanwhile, local residents have urged authorities to install speed breakers and warning signboards on the stretch of road to prevent similar mishaps.

Police appealed to the public to drive cautiously and follow traffic regulations. “Overspeeding continues to be a major cause of fatal accidents. People must understand that a little caution can save lives,” a police officer said.
