LUDHIANA, July 9 — In a chilling incident that stunned onlookers in Ludhiana, the body of a young woman was discovered in a sack dumped on the divider of Ferozepur Road near Aarti Chowk on Wednesday morning. The sack was allegedly discarded by two men on a motorcycle, one of whom was seen wearing a private security guard’s uniform.
The matter came to light when Jeevan, a roadside vendor stationed under the flyover, noticed the duo stopping their bike and unloading the suspicious sack. “There was a foul smell coming from it,” Jeevan recalled. “When I questioned them, they claimed it was just rotten mangoes. But their behaviour didn’t seem right, so we started filming them. As soon as we began recording, they got nervous, started arguing, and then fled the scene — leaving their bike behind.”
Several bystanders assisted in checking the sack after the duo sped away. To their horror, it contained the body of a woman, with visible blood around her nose, police said. The abandoned blue motorcycle, bearing registration number PB10CE7668, was seized by the police, who also recovered video footage recorded by eyewitnesses.
Sub-Inspector Amarjit Singh, the investigating officer, said the preliminary investigation points to a possible murder. “The suspects are currently unidentified but have been captured in multiple videos. One of them appeared to be in a blue uniform belonging to a private security agency,” he said. “We believe both the woman and the accused might be migrants. Identification of the deceased is under way.”
The police have launched a manhunt for the two men and are analysing CCTV footage from the area to trace their route before and after the crime. The body was sent for post-mortem, and a murder case has been registered.
Authorities urged anyone with information about the suspects or the victim to contact the local police station.
