Ludhiana, Nov 11: Panic spread in the Dugri area of Ludhiana on Tuesday morning after the body of a woman was found stuffed inside a sack near the Alamgir Bypass.

According to police, locals noticed a heavy-looking sack lying on the roadside and informed the village sarpanch after finding it suspicious. “When the sarpanch reached the spot, he saw what appeared to be a hand protruding from the sack and immediately called the police,” an officer said.

A team from the Dugri police station arrived at the site and, in the presence of the sarpanch, opened the sack to discover the woman’s body inside.

The body has been sent to the civil hospital for postmortem examination. Police said efforts are underway to identify the woman, believed to be between 30 and 35 years old.

“Preliminary investigation suggests that the body was dumped at the spot during the night,” a police official noted, adding that all nearby areas are being scanned for CCTV footage to trace the culprits.
