Yellow Alert Issued for Rain in Punjab’s Himachal Border Districts

CHANDIGARH, Aug 16:— The Meteorological Center issued a yellow alert for rain in Punjab’s districts bordering Himachal Pradesh, including Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, and Rupnagar. Authorities warned of possible showers accompanied by strong winds in these areas, with similar weather expected to continue until August 19. Other districts are likely to see normal weather conditions.

According to the meteorological office, temperatures rose by about 4 degrees in some districts following rainfall yesterday. Rainfall recorded from morning to evening included 7.5 mm in Hoshiarpur, 5 mm in Rupnagar, and 1 mm in Bathinda. Meanwhile, maximum temperatures stood at 31.2°C in Amritsar, 34°C in Ludhiana, 33.8°C in Patiala, and 33°C in Bathinda.

Forecasts for major cities of Punjab indicate:

  • Amritsar: Light clouds with possible rain; temperatures between 27°C and 30°C.
  • Jalandhar: Light clouds with possible rain; temperatures between 27°C and 30°C.
  • Ludhiana: Light clouds with possible rain; temperatures between 25°C and 30°C.
  • Patiala: Light clouds with possible rain; temperatures between 26°C and 30°C.
  • Mohali: Light clouds with possible rain; temperatures between 25°C and 30°C.

Officials advise residents in the yellow-alert districts to exercise caution due to gusty winds and intermittent rainfall over the next few days.
