India and Malaysia have pledged to deepen cooperation in defense, semiconductor production, and maritime security following high-level discussions between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Malaysian leader Anwar Ibrahim.
During the bilateral meeting in Kuala Lumpur, the two nations explored ways to modernize their partnership while addressing regional stability.
The Prime Minister took a firm stance on global security during his address, noting that India maintains a rigid policy regarding cross-border threats.
“Our message on terrorism is clear; no double standards, no compromise,” Modi said. He noted that both countries remain dedicated to expanding their connections across several diverse sectors.
Strengthening the security framework was a primary focus of the talks, with both leaders agreeing to bolster intelligence sharing and counter-terrorism efforts. The Prime Minister mentioned that the two countries intend to make defense cooperation more comprehensive in the coming years.
Beyond security, the dialogue shifted toward emerging technologies and economic resilience.
Modi mentioned that alongside AI and digital technologies, the nations will advance partnerships in semiconductors, health, and food security. He further described the Indo-Pacific as the world’s growth engine, stating that India is committed to development, peace, and stability across the region alongside ASEAN.
Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim acknowledged India’s growing influence on the world stage during the session.
