ZIRAKPUR, Apr 19 — Mohali police on Friday claimed to have solved the broad daylight robbery at a jewellery store in Shiva Enclave within 24 hours, arresting all seven accused who allegedly posed as delivery boys and security guards to cover up their criminal identities.

Mohali Rural SP Manpreet Singh, addressing a press conference, said, “Four of the accused—Parmveer Singh, Shamsher Singh alias Sera, Gangandeep Singh and Karanveer Singh—carried out the armed robbery, while the remaining three—Gurmandeep Singh, Jarmanpreet Singh and Rishabh—were involved in planning and aiding the crime.”

All accused, aged between 21 and 34, were living in rented accommodations in and around Mohali, though they hailed from various parts of Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. Police said the group met while working as guards and delivery boys and later formed a gang under the guise of legitimate jobs.

“The breakthrough came through coordinated efforts by teams led by DSP Jaspinder Singh, SHO Zirakpur Inspector Jaskanwal Singh Sekhon, and Kharar CIA in-charge. Acting on technical and human intelligence, the team apprehended all seven within a day,” SP Singh stated.

Police recovered a pistol, one live cartridge, two motorcycles used in the robbery and a significant amount of stolen silver jewellery. The arrests began with the capture of the four who executed the robbery, whose disclosures led to the arrest of the remaining three.

“Parmveer, who has a previous criminal record, is from Jalandhar. Shamsher and Rishabh are from Haryana, Gurmandeep is from Barnala, Jarmanpreet is from UP, Gangandeep is from Mohali, and Karanveer is from Amritsar,” Singh said.

All accused are currently in police custody and will be interrogated further.
