June 6: Indian team head coach Gautam Gambhir has expressed grief over the Bangalore stampede case. He said that he has always been against road shows and such events. On Wednesday, the celebration of Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) IPL 2025 title win turned into mourning when a stampede broke out among the fans outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium. 11 people died and more than 50 were injured in this incident.

I have always been against road shows’

The Indian team will leave for England tour on Thursday. Earlier, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) called a press conference at its Mumbai headquarters. During this, head coach Gautam Gambhir was asked a question about the Bangalore stampede. The journalist asked him who do you hold responsible for this incident? In response, the former batsman said- ‘I am no one to blame anyone. I have always believed that we do not need to do road shows. I used to think the same even when I used to play.

Even after winning in 2007, I had said that we should not do road shows. People’s lives are more important and I will keep saying the same thing in the future. In the future, we should be a little more conscious about these road shows. We can probably do these road shows behind closed doors. We should not have done this. Fans get excited. The fan base is excited. But, nothing is more important than people’s lives. You cannot lose 11 people at any time. According to me, the road show should not have happened.’

FIR registered against RCB and KSCA

In the Bangalore stampede case, an FIR has been registered at the Cubbon Park Police Station against IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), DNA (event management company) and the administrative committee of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) and others. The FIR mentions criminal negligence in the stampede incident. A complaint has been filed in the case under sections 105, 125 (1)(2), 132, 121/1, 190 r/w 3(5), news agency ANI reported on Thursday.
