Shimla, June 11— Himachal Pradesh continued to reel under intense heat on Tuesday, with Una recording the highest maximum temperature of 44.2°C, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Temperatures across many parts of the hill state remained well above normal, with Neri in Hamirpur district hitting 43.3°C, followed by Bilaspur at 40.8°C. Kangra and Mandi each reported 40°C.
Even popular hill stations offered little relief. Manali, known for its cooler climate, recorded a maximum of 31.2°C, which is five degrees above normal. Shimla, the state capital, touched 29.5°C, four degrees higher than usual for this time of year.
“Bhuntar in Kullu registered 38.6°C, which is 5.8°C above normal, and Kalpa in Kinnaur recorded 27.8°C, about 4.9°C above normal,” said an official from the IMD’s Shimla office.
According to the Met office, dry conditions will continue across the state until June 12. However, light rainfall may occur at isolated locations on June 13 and 14, with light to moderate showers expected at a few places on June 15 and 16.
Temperatures are expected to rise further in the next three days, with maximums increasing by up to 3°C and minimums by 2°C in some parts of the state. Authorities have advised residents and tourists to stay hydrated and avoid outdoor exposure during peak afternoon hours.
