Ludhiana, June 11– A 21-year-old married woman, Radhika, was allegedly strangled to death by her partner Sunil in the Fatehganj area of Ludhiana after he discovered she had concealed a previous marriage. The incident came to light on Tuesday evening when Radhika’s body was found in their rented accommodation.
According to police, Sunil and Radhika had solemnised a temple marriage four months ago and were planning to register it legally in court. However, tensions flared after Sunil reportedly learned of Radhika’s first husband, a fact she had kept hidden. Investigators believe the revelation led to a violent argument, during which Sunil strangled her to death and fled.
CCTV footage has emerged showing Sunil walking through the street with a bag slung over his shoulder at 4:36 am on June 9, the day of the suspected murder.
“We have registered a murder case and are conducting raids to nab the accused,” a police official said, adding that efforts are underway to track Sunil’s movements post the crime.
Sunil, a native of Balrampur village in Uttar Pradesh’s Gonda district, had recently moved to the Fatehganj locality from Tibba Road, just four days before the murder. Both he and Radhika were employed at a local packaging factory.
Police are also examining the couple’s background and past relationships to determine the complete sequence of events leading to the murder.
