Cashless neurological treatments see steady rise as state ensures health as a right

Chandigarh, April 24: Punjab’s healthcare infrastructure is witnessing a transformative shift under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana, with over 40 lakh citizens now registered for comprehensive medical coverage. The Bhagwant Mann-led administration has focused the scheme on critical areas such as neurology, ensuring that conditions like head injuries and seizures are treated without any out-of-pocket expenses for the families.

Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh affirmed that the primary objective is to prevent loss of life due to financial distress. He stated that the scheme’s implementation has instilled a new level of confidence in the public healthcare system. Recent data from across the state shows a steady increase in cashless neurosurgical admissions, which officials declared is a sign of growing trust in the state’s healthcare guarantees.

The impact of the scheme is most evident in the treatment of lifestyle-related neurological issues. Experts in the field maintained that timely intervention is the most critical factor in stroke survival. By providing a ₹10 lakh cashless limit, the government has enabled families to focus on recovery rather than debt. Dr. Balbir Singh asserted that the state’s governance is translating into tangible protection for every household in Punjab.

At the grassroots level, the policy is credited with making high-quality medical care accessible to those who previously could not afford private neurosurgical services. Doctors affirmed that the removal of financial hurdles has led to a noticeable increase in early diagnosis and treatment. The Punjab government declared that similar people-centric reforms will continue to be a cornerstone of its administrative agenda to ensure a healthier future for the state.
