Chandigarh: A political gathering in Zira marked the official entry of Gurpreet Singh Sekhon into the Aam Aadmi Party on Sunday, with Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann present to welcome the new members. Speaking to the assembled audience, the Chief Minister declared that the state government remains dedicated to transparent public service, positioning politics as a direct instrument for societal improvement rather than personal advancement.
Highlighting current governance initiatives, the Chief Minister noted that the administration has established 1,100 local clinics, secured reliable daytime power and canal irrigation for farmers, and eliminated electricity charges for ninety percent of domestic consumers. He declared that public tax revenue is directly returning to citizens through updated road networks, improved schools, and public savings generated by closing toll plazas.
The Chief Minister affirmed that healthcare and financial empowerment remain central priorities, emphasizing the nation-leading cashless treatment ceiling under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna and direct benefit transfers under the Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna. He noted that comprehensive development initiatives, such as building sports infrastructure, aim to channel the energy of young people constructively.
Turning to political rivals, the Chief Minister stated that neither the Akali Dal nor the Congress offers a viable economic or social vision for the state’s future. He asserted that the public has rejected legacy political structures due to past mismanagement and persistent internal rivalries, reaffirming that governance grounded in accountability remains the party’s primary focus.
