Mansa, July 6: A weekend journey to pay religious obeisance ended in tragedy when a truck collided with a passenger car on the Mansa-Bhikhi road, killing two individuals and injuring two more.

The victims, Jatin Verma of Mansa and Surinder Pal Singh of Akkanwali village, lost their lives in the heavily mangled wreckage. Emergency personnel also attended to Avtar Singh and Jashandeep Singh of Mansa, who sustained injuries during the severe head-on impact and were moved for medical care.

Local sources indicated that the four youths were making their way towards the Kali Mata temple in Patiala on Saturday night. The accident unfolded when an oncoming truck reportedly failed to navigate a sharp turn. The vehicle went completely out of control, crashing directly into the smaller car and crushing its exterior.

Police officials promptly secured the heavily damaged road section and arrested the truck driver, Bhola Singh, a resident of Balloh village, to proceed with legal formalities.

“The collision was incredibly severe, leaving the smaller vehicle completely destroyed at the crash site,” a local police representative maintained.

“The driver is currently in custody, and a comprehensive probe is actively underway to establish liability on the road,” the officer asserted.
