Chandigarh, August 17: Ferozepur hosted the state’s primary Independence Day celebrations on Saturday, marked by a multi-contingent parade, cultural performances by local students, and floats displaying major public initiatives.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann unfurled the national flag and reviewed march-past contingents from the Punjab Police, BSF, PAP, Himachal Police, and Home Guards, accompanied by senior administrative and police leadership.
“Our government is working to make Punjab prosperous and Rangla Punjab by fulfilling the dreams of our bravehearts,” affirmed Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann while addressing the public.
During the address, the government detailed wide-ranging policy results, including cashless healthcare coverage up to ₹10 lakh for families under the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, free sacred travel for 4 lakh elderly citizens, and zero-electricity bills for nearly 90 percent of households.
The state also confirmed new athletic milestones, announcing that Bathinda will host the fourth edition of ‘Khedan Watan Punjab Diyan’ starting September 5, alongside upcoming international events like the Hockey Asian Champions Trophy.
“We have fulfilled all guarantees and also delivered major works we had never promised,” asserted the Chief Minister, maintaining that the state will continue accelerating industrial investments and agricultural support to secure long-term economic growth.
