Dharamshala, June 18: The Central University of Himachal Pradesh (CUHP) has been ranked 8th among all government universities in India and 1st in Himachal Pradesh, according to the Indian Institutional Ranking Framework (IIRF) 2025.
With a stellar score of 985.21 out of 1,000, CUHP has surpassed several leading institutions in categories like teaching-learning resources and research performance. The university ranked first nationally in pedagogy (220.5 points), even ahead of Jawaharlal Nehru University, and second in research with a score of 199.9.
Speaking at a press conference, Vice-Chancellor Sat Parkash Bansal credited the achievement to the university’s focus on innovation and impactful education, despite operating from temporary campuses. CUHP’s academic output includes 2,000+ research papers, 35,000+ citations, and a strong H-index of 63.
The university has also been recognised for its placement performance, ranking fifth nationally, with median packages of ₹4.68 lakh and internships offering up to ₹60,000/month. It has raised over ₹100 crore in research funding and filed 60+ patents, while building strategic international partnerships.
