Karnal, Aug 8 — Three nominated councillors of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) were administered the oath of office during the monthly meeting of the Karnal Municipal Corporation on Thursday.

Mayor Renu Bala Gupta administered the oath to Umesh Procha, Gaurav Nagpal and Vishesh Verma. The ceremony was held in the presence of Karnal MLA Jagmohan Anand, MP Kavinder Rana, MC commissioner Vaishali Sharma, and other officials.

The house meeting, chaired by the mayor, saw the tabling of seven proposals, of which six were passed and one was kept pending. Additionally, 11 proposals were brought as ‘out of agenda’ items — nine of these were passed, while two remained pending.

Mayor Gupta directed municipal officials to address councillors’ concerns and prioritise public welfare works. Emphasising the need for basic amenities, MLA Anand urged officials to expedite civic tasks including the shifting of cattle dairies and the construction of dog shelters to manage the stray animal issue in the city.
