New Delhi, June 12: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday chaired a high-level review meeting to take stock of security and logistical preparations for the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026. During the session, he directed all concerned agencies to ensure a foolproof and impregnable security arrangement for the smooth and incident-free conduct of the annual pilgrimage.

“Safeguarding the lives of pilgrims and ensuring their safe passage must remain the foremost priority of all agencies involved,” the Home Minister asserted. He instructed officials to maintain maximum alertness and implement a robust multi-layered security grid along both the Pahalgam and Baltal routes, conducting a comprehensive assessment of the existing security framework, deployment strategy, and inter-agency coordination.

Senior officials briefed the Home Minister on the preparedness measures undertaken for the pilgrimage, including the deployment of Central Armed Police Forces, area domination exercises, anti-sabotage operations, traffic management plans, emergency response systems, and disaster preparedness mechanisms. To effectively thwart any potential threat, Shah directed security and intelligence agencies to strengthen intelligence networks, enhance surveillance mechanisms, and ensure seamless coordination at the field level.

The Home Minister maintained that the administration must facilitate hassle-free movement of devotees by ensuring adequate civic amenities and essential services, including healthcare facilities, communication networks, accommodation arrangements, and other required support systems. He declared that all agencies must work in close coordination and discharge their responsibilities with utmost professionalism to guarantee the smooth conduct of the revered pilgrimage.

The review meeting was attended by senior functionaries of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Intelligence Bureau, Jammu and Kashmir administration, security agencies, and other stakeholders associated with the conduct of the annual pilgrimage. With thousands of devotees from across the country expected to participate in the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026, authorities have intensified both security and logistical preparations to ensure a peaceful and successful completion of the event.
