Opposition Stager Walkout and Demonstrations on Final Day of Punjab Assembly Session

Congress Protests Denied Entry to Suspended MLA Khaira After Burning Ruling Party Symbol Outside House

by TheReportingTimes

Chandigarh, October 27: High drama marked the final day of the Punjab Assembly session as Congress members staged a complete boycott of proceedings, citing procedural unfairness toward suspended colleague Sukhpal Singh Khaira.

The confrontation escalated after opposition members alleged that Khaira was stopped at the gate despite his suspension being limited to the house sittings. Congress Legislative Party (CLP) leader Partap Singh Bajwa confronted Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan on the floor of the House regarding the restriction. Following an unsatisfactory response, Bajwa walked out alongside party colleagues to boycott the rest of the sitting.

Prior to the House proceedings, Congress lawmakers organized an aggressive outdoor demonstration. Clad in black robes, opposition leaders burned an AAP election symbol and shouted slogans condemning the administration’s handling of key state issues.
