South Goa, October 27: The Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas confirmed that there are no active proposals to elevate ethanol blending levels above the 20 percent mark currently being rolled out nationwide.
Speaking at an energy technology conference in South Goa, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri addressed queries regarding the future trajectory of the nation’s biofuel policy. He asserted that the government remains committed to its 20 percent blending objective, countering speculative reports about further percentage increases.
The Minister maintained that the current ethanol blending program plays a vital role in strengthening national energy security and lowering the current account deficit.
Reflecting on the program’s progress, Minister Puri declared that the adoption of E20 fuel—comprising 20 percent ethanol and 80 percent conventional petrol—has successfully curtailed import expenditures while providing substantial financial returns to the nation’s farming community.
