Amritsar/Chandigarh, Sept 29: The Shiromani Akali Dal has taken official action to terminate the primary membership of Joint Secretary Roop Kaur Sandhu. The step was taken after she declared that further grievances similar to the Chawla case would soon be brought to light.
Istri Akali Dal president Hargobind Kaur stated that the decision was taken due to persistent acts of alleged misconduct and indiscipline on the part of Roop Kaur. She declared that the party leadership reached this conclusion after thorough internal deliberation.
The matter traces back to September 19, when Roop Kaur accompanied a woman from Bahrain to address media cameras, repeating allegations documented in an FIR against Chawla regarding an event at the Takht Kesgarh Sahib sarai.
In a subsequent message posted to social media, Roop Kaur asserted that numerous women contacted her with distinct accounts following the initial broadcast. She stated that the allegations involve well-known entities operating within religious and political spheres in Punjab and overseas.
She affirmed her intention to present full details and supporting material to the Akal Takht for consideration. Expressing reservations about her security, she declared that she intends to follow through with the disclosures.
