Ambala, Sept 28: A tragic structural failure at an under-construction site in Ambala’s Dhulkot area claimed six lives and left over ten workers injured after a three-storey building collapsed during slab-casting operations.
The incident occurred on Sunday when a large crew of daily wage labourers was engaged in casting the upper-floor concrete roof. Witnesses maintained that the support framing failed, causing the entire concrete structure to collapse onto workers on the ground level. Emergency personnel from the NDRF, SDRF, and district administration deployed heavy machinery to clear the rubble, extracting 13 individuals over hours of continuous operations. Medical officers confirmed that six victims succumbed to severe crush injuries.
In the wake of the tragedy, victims’ relatives expressed anger over safety oversights, demanding strict police action and formal criminal charges against the building owner. Senior public representatives visited the affected families at the district hospital to review medical care arrangements.
Ambala district officials asserted that preliminary findings suggest the commercial structure lacked necessary regulatory approvals. The district administration has ordered a comprehensive technical inquiry to determine the exact cause of the collapse, with police affirming that accountability will be enforced against any negligent parties involved.
