CHANDIGARH, May 18, 2026 – Public fears over an alleged fuel shortage in the Union Territory have been quelled after government administrators confirmed that Chandigarh possesses a surplus of petroleum products and faces zero supply disruptions.
The intervention by local authorities followed a wave of misleading online reports suggesting that a mandatory purchase limit had been introduced for cars and motorcycles due to a localized transport crisis. Dismissing the claims as entirely baseless, Deputy Commissioner Nishant Kumar Yadav maintained that fuel sales remain completely uninhibited throughout the city.
“The Oil Marketing Companies have confirmed that sufficient fuel stocks are available and supply operations are continuing smoothly without any disruption,” Yadav asserted.
The Deputy Commissioner stated that municipal monitoring systems are actively collaborating with national energy suppliers to verify inventory levels at every retail station.
Government spokespersons stated that panic-driven bulk purchasing is entirely unnecessary, as regional reservoirs are being replenished continuously. The administration noted that such reactionary buying patterns create artificial stress on localized stations rather than resolving real infrastructure issues.
The territory’s executive branch concluded by requesting public cooperation to maintain standard commercial operations across the city. Officials declared that the state remains fully committed to ensuring that energy supplies are delivered uninterrupted to all commercial and residential consumers.
