Kyiv / Moscow, October 27: A regional humanitarian ceasefire between Ukrainian and Russian forces took effect on Tuesday in the Russian-occupied town of Oleshky, opening a temporary window for emergency supply deliveries and safe evacuations.
Located directly across the Dnipro River from Ukrainian-controlled Kherson, Oleshky has endured critical shortages of vital provisions, including basic medicine and food supplies. Russian defense officials confirmed a cessation of fire along the Kherson front starting early Tuesday morning, while Ukrainian negotiators verified that their forces are adhering to the agreed terms to ensure the safety of aid teams.
While the localized truce offers immediate relief to vulnerable civilians in the southern town, active combat and air strikes continue unabated in other regions of Ukraine, including the capital city.
