Chandigarh, July 1: The Union government will maintain its current legal lineup in key northern states after President Droupadi Murmu authorized a fresh three-month extension for three prominent Additional Solicitors General. The judicial order ensures that senior legal counsel Satya Pal Jain will continue to spearhead all legal matters for the central administration at the Punjab and Haryana High Court for a transitional period starting Wednesday.
Under the same administrative mandate, identical operational extensions were granted to federal legal chiefs serving in neighboring legal circles. Senior law officers Shashi Prakash Singh of the Allahabad High Court and Krishna Nandan Singh of the Patna High Court declared that their terms would proceed smoothly alongside Jain’s layout. The decision aims to keep senior leadership intact across these important high courts while the central panel handles key constitutional and regulatory cases.
The organizational apparatus in Chandigarh has remained under Jain’s direct guidance for over a decade. The senior political figure and legal expert has held the position continuously since 2015, when he became the initial appointee for the post. The dynamic role was designed following a Union legislative framework passed in late 2014, establishing localized central litigation divisions to handle complex cases involving central departments and public agencies.
