Investigation Sought Over Fraudulent Call

by TheReportingTimes

CHANDIGARH, May 9 — Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal, the AAP MP for Hoshiarpur, has called for a detailed inquiry into a phone call he received from an individual allegedly impersonating Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The MP has formally reached out to the SSP Hoshiarpur, stating that the call appeared to be an attempt at political intimidation.

The interaction began with a caller asking for the MP by name before claiming that the Home Minister wished to speak with him. Dr. Chabbewal stated that the second voice on the line offered birthday well-wishes and asked for his current location. When informed that the MP was in his constituency, the caller reportedly told him to ensure a meeting took place the next time he visited the capital.

The voice did not sound authentic, Dr. Chabbewal affirmed. He declared that the entire sequence appeared questionable and suggested that such tactics reflect desperate politics used against opposition figures. He stated that calls from the Union Home Ministry typically follow a specific protocol and utilize official landline infrastructure, which was not the case here.

The AAP leader affirmed that his party would remain resilient against any dubious pressure tactics. Dr. Chabbewal declared that it is essential to identify those attempting to misuse senior leadership’s names for political gain. He maintained that the matter is now with the police to determine the individuals behind the suspicious communication.
