IDP Education affirmed that the move is aimed at enhancing the overall convenience of the testing experience while preserving the globally trusted standard of the assessment.
The administration maintained that the transition offers significant benefits for candidates, including greater availability of test dates and specific tools like easy editing within the writing section. For those who feel more comfortable with traditional methods, the format provides an option where the listening and reading sections are handled on a computer, while the writing portion is completed on paper. This hybrid approach aims to ease the adjustment period for those accustomed to pen-and-paper examinations.
Those who choose the fully digital route will perform the listening, reading, and writing sections directly on a computer screen. Regardless of the chosen format, the speaking test will continue to be conducted in a face-to-face setting with a certified IELTS examiner, ensuring the personal interaction component of the exam remains intact.
For students planning their academic timelines, the availability of the traditional paper-based test will draw to a close shortly. The organization stated that the final opportunities to sit for the paper-based exam are limited to three specific dates: July 25, August 6, and August 22. Candidates are advised to plan their registration accordingly as the system moves toward a fully digital testing environment to support the evolving requirements of study abroad aspirants.
