BATALA, APRIL 16 : To modernize one of Punjab’s most historic urban centers, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has launched development works worth ₹177 crore. The investment is distributed across various departments, with the Public Works Department (PWD) tasked with road repairs and construction worth over ₹107 crore, while the Municipal Corporation will execute nearly ₹96 crore in civic improvements.

The Chief Minister noted that the infrastructure drive is specifically tailored to address the daily challenges faced by Batala’s residents. This includes the strategic construction of bridges at Greater Kailash Colony and near the Sarpanch Toka factory, alongside the development of a modern bus terminal. Officials stated that these upgrades are essential for supporting the city’s growth and ensuring smoother transit for commuters.

Beyond physical infrastructure, the Chief Minister spoke extensively on legislative milestones, specifically mentioning the Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Bill, 2026. He declared that this legislation ensures harsher punishments for acts of sacrilege, maintaining that the state is duty-bound to protect communal harmony and religious sanctity. “Now anyone found guilty in this unpardonable offence will not be spared at any cost,” he affirmed.

The event was also attended by senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia, who stated that the current administration’s focus on education, health, and power sets a unique precedent in the country. The Chief Minister concluded by declaring that the era of “musical chairs” between traditional political families has ended, as the state moves forward with a pro-people agenda focused on accountability and long-term progress.
