BARNALA — Deputy Commissioner Harpreet Singh directed the District Development and Panchayat Officer to initiate immediate site clearance operations in Dhilwan Dakhan village to construct a new children’s playground and community park.
The project was launched after local village leadership highlighted how abandoned public property had deteriorated over time, creating environmental concerns and taking away vital play spaces for youth.
District administration representatives affirmed that community-level involvement forms a core pillar of the ongoing anti-drug initiative, integrating infrastructure renewal with law enforcement to protect rural youth.
“Under the Yudh Nashean Virudh, Punjab has been pursuing a multi-pronged approach against drug abuse, combining action against drug traffickers with prevention, de-addiction, rehabilitation and greater community participation,” the administration stated.
The local panchayat expressed optimism that the newly cleared recreational facilities will foster a healthy sporting culture, keeping young residents engaged in positive physical activities and strengthening community safety bonds.
