PHILLAUR — Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann declared that Punjab is executing a comprehensive two-pronged strategy targeting drug supply chains and substance demand, warning that human traffickers and illicit suppliers will face the full weight of the law.
Speaking during a high-level review of the ‘Yudh Nashean Virudh’ campaign at Phillaur, the Chief Minister noted that enforcement agencies are operating without political intervention to protect younger generations and eliminate the narcotics network across rural and urban centers.
The Chief Minister countered criticisms regarding state law enforcement, pointing out that significant illicit drug trade occurs in neighboring states while Punjab continues to bear the brunt of external supply routes along border zones under central jurisdiction.
“Drugs are not merely a law-and-order challenge but a grave social menace threatening the dreams, aspirations and lives of thousands of young Punjabis. The government is firmly committed to dismantling the entire drug network and restoring the glory of Punjab,” Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann asserted.
To bolster police operational readiness, the state leadership confirmed the allocation of 117 new vehicles for supervisory officers while expanding sports infrastructure and educational programs to engage youth across every district.
Concluding his address, the Chief Minister assured that law enforcement agencies maintain strict oversight on ongoing criminal inquiries, including the investigation into the activist murder in Mansa, to ensure complete justice.
