AMRITSAR, MAY 30 — The Punjab Police expanded its operational footprint and electronic monitoring capabilities in Amritsar on Saturday with the introduction of a new smart facility and automated road safety tools.
Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav led a high-level administrative review with regional commanders to analyze shifting crime patterns and upgrade preventive field deployments. During the tour, Yadav formally dedicated the Mohkampura Police Station to the public, an infrastructure project completed under the auspices of the Smart City initiative to optimize public service delivery systems in the urban sectors.
The state command also integrated Amritsar into the state’s growing digital traffic enforcement grid, aligning it alongside Ludhiana, Jalandhar, and Mohali. Yadav asserted that the automated e-Challan system replaces manual ticketing methods to provide a verifiable, efficient method for monitoring vehicular movement and improving municipal safety standards.
“Amritsar becomes the fourth city in the state to implement automated e-Challans,” Yadav noted, detailing the department’s broader commitment to modernizing the state’s enforcement architecture through systemic digital upgrades.
The session concluded with an official commendation ceremony for local field officers. The Director General of Police distributed specialized commendation discs, service certificates, and fiscal rewards to personnel for exceptional conduct, stating that individual professionalism on the ground remains the primary driver behind public safety and trust.
