Ludhiana, Sept. 13: Fourteen trains that were shifted from Ludhiana railway station to Dhandhari Kalan due to redevelopment work will continue to operate from the temporary halt until December 30, railway officials said Saturday.
The Railways had originally planned the diversion until September 30, but the deadline was extended by three months as the upgrade at Ludhiana station is still incomplete. Officials said the decision was taken “to avoid inconvenience to passengers while work progresses.”
The affected trains include Amritsar–Haridwar (12054), Amritsar–Purnia Court (14618), Jalandhar City–Darbhanga (22552), Amritsar–Lalkuan (14616), Amritsar–Darbhanga (15212), Amritsar–New Delhi (12042, 14680), Amritsar–Jayanagar (14650, 14674), Amritsar–Indore (19326), Amritsar–Gorakhpur (22424), along with others such as Amritsar–New Delhi (12220) and Amritsar–Saharanpur (14604).
Railway officials said the Ludhiana redevelopment project is part of a modernization plan to expand passenger amenities and handle growing traffic. However, no fresh timeline has been given for completion of the station works.
