Ferozepur, Sept 20: A large group of Punjabis living abroad has joined hands with Sampardai Kar Sewa, Sarhali, to support flood relief efforts along the Sutlej river in Ferozepur district. The service, focused on reinforcing embankments at Wara Kali Raun village, is led by Baba Sukha Singh and Baba Hakam Singh.
Volunteers from Malaysia, Italy, Kazakhstan, Russia, Indonesia, and several European countries participated alongside local sangat and Baba Sukha Singh. Aniljeet Singh, heading the group from Malaysia, said, “The floods in Punjab have caused immense destruction. There is a great need for services at many places. We feel fortunate to assist Baba Sukha Singh and Baba Hakam Singh in their relief efforts.”
Local residents from villages such as Khara, Maniala Jai Singh, Mughal Chak, Bangalipur, Chhajjalwaddi, Chirag Shah Wala, Khojkipur, and Jalalabad also joined the continuous effort to protect the river embankments.
Baba Sukha Singh tinted the spirit of collaboration, noting that volunteers from abroad and local residents worked “shoulder to shoulder” to ensure the safety of the embankments. The joint effort reflects the strong commitment of the global Punjabi community to assist in disaster relief.
