New Delhi/Chandigarh, Oct 21: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his Diwali message to citizens, said that India’s Operation Sindoor reflected Lord Ram’s courage to uphold righteousness and fight injustice, describing it as a modern-day embodiment of those ideals.
“This is the second Deepavali after the grand construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Lord Shri Ram teaches us to uphold righteousness and gives us courage to fight injustice. We saw a living example of this a few months ago during Operation Sindoor, when Bharat not only upheld dharma but avenged injustice,” the Prime Minister wrote in his letter.
Modi extended Diwali greetings and said the festival of lights held deeper meaning this year, as lamps would for the first time illuminate homes in regions freed from the shadow of naxal and Maoist violence. “These are the districts where Naxalism has been eradicated from the root. Many have abandoned the path of violence and joined the mainstream of development, showing faith in the Constitution. This is a major achievement for the nation,” he said.
Citing recent economic measures, the Prime Minister said India had embarked on next-generation reforms and launched the “GST Bachat Utsav,” which had enabled citizens to save thousands of crores of rupees.
Highlighting India’s growing economic strength, he said the country had emerged as “a symbol of both stability and sensitivity” in a world gripped by crises and was firmly on track to become the world’s third-largest economy.
Reiterating his call for a Viksit Bharat and Aatmanirbhar Bharat, Modi urged citizens to embrace local products, maintain cleanliness, promote harmony, and lead healthier lives. “Let us proudly say: This is Swadeshi! Let us reduce oil use in our food by 10 percent and practice yoga. These collective steps will take us rapidly toward a developed India,” he said.
Reflecting on the spirit of the festival, Modi added, “Deepavali teaches us that when one lamp lights another, its light does not diminish but grows. Let us light lamps of harmony, cooperation and positivity in our society this Deepavali.”
