Punjab MP aids farmers in clearing flood debris from fields

by TheReportingTimes

Chandigarh, November 21: Balbir Singh Seechewal, AAP MP, visited flood-hit areas in Punjab to assist farmers in removing sand and silt from their fields, working directly alongside them. Tractors and specialized equipment were deployed to help restore cultivable land.

The move is part of the government’s “Jiska Khet, Uski Ret” programme, which provides ownership rights for deposited sand and support for its removal. Technical advice and financial aid are also being offered to help farmers resume cultivation.

Authorities said the visit was aimed at monitoring relief work and ensuring timely support reaches the affected farmers. Local farmers welcomed the intervention, stating that the hands-on approach has helped accelerate the recovery process after the floods.
